Indian hard working players are giving gold medals as Diwali Gift to their country. After a record start of grabbing 5 gold medals in a day, players seemed to be more lustful by snatching victories from all its competitors and again standing a record of achieving 6 gold medals in a day. India’s Geeta won the gold in the 55 kg freestyle category in the newly introduced women’s wrestling discipline in the Commonwealth Games . The women’s table tennis team also made history by reaching the final for the first time. The fourth-seeded Indians beat the second seeds from England 3-0 to set up a clash against Singapore for the gold. Moreover , in the mixed team event in badminton, world no. 3 Saina Nehwal, beat England 3-0 to enter the final. With this India has won 15 gold , 11 silver and 9 bronze medal to total the tally of 35 with mere 5 days passed. Their hard work in not only paying off by gold medals but also proving India’s dominance in sports world.

The nineteenth Commonwealth Games got off with an enchanting start on 3rd of October, 2010 at the Indian Capital with an opening ceremony. The opening ceremony which started at 7 P.M, kept its viewers entranced for more than two hours at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi with showcase of extraordinarily talented India and dazzling fireworks . The Games will continue to mesmerize the world till 14th of October. Prince of Wales i.e. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla were present at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games, who were accompanied by the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Manmohan Singh and the President of India, Smt Prathiba Patil. The Commonwealth Games opening ceremony commenced with the pride of India ie.,national anthem of India. The opening day of the Commonwealth Games has truly surpassed all our expectations.
